Amazon Web Services Academy

Columbus State is a proud AWS Academy Member Institution and is committed to helping you advance your career in cloud technologies. AWS Academy courses are designed to help current students and IT professionals develop the cloud technology skills needed for today’s rapidly changing IT landscape. 

As a member of the AWS Academy network, Columbus State offers AWS Academy content (interactive labs) within the College’s Credit IT Degrees and Certificates and Non-Credit IT Certificates. The College has also recently launched a credit version of the Cloud Practitioner course.

AWS Academy Courses

Prepares students for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification exam.

Course Outline

Prerequisite Knowledge: This entry-level course provides an introduction to AWS cloud services and practices and is suitable for all students.

Prepares students for the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate certification exam.

Course Outline

Prerequisite Knowledge: This is an intermediate-level course designed for individuals with a background in IT. We recommend students have:

  • Completed AWS Academy Cloud Foundations (ACF) or have equivalent experience
  • A working knowledge of distributed systems
  • Familiarity with general networking concepts
  • A working knowledge of multi-tier architectures
  • Familiarity with cloud computing concepts

Prepares students for the AWS Certified Developer- Associate certification exam. 

Course Outline

Prerequisite Knowledge:This is an intermediate-level course designed for individuals with a background in IT. We recommend that students have: 

  • Completed AWS Academy Cloud Foundations (ACF) or have prior cloud computing experience
  • Prior software development experience
  • A working knowledge of distributed systems
  • Familiarity with general networking concepts
  • A working knowledge of multi-tier architectures

Prepares students for the AWS SysOps Administrator - Associate certification exam. 

Course Outline

Prerequisite Knowledge: This is an intermediate-level course designed for individuals with a background in IT. We recommend students have:

  • Completed AWS Academy Clound Foundations (ACF) or have prior cloud computing experience
  • A working knowledge of at least one scripting language
  • Familiarity with Linux, the command line and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
  • Familiarity with virtualization and distributed computing
  • An understanding of version control (e.g., Git)
  • An understanding of data storage mechanisms such as SQL
