Update | Friday, February 28, 2025

The Faculty Professional Development initiative (FPDi) is offering eight more workshops designed to equip faculty members with practical skills and knowledge that can immediately be applied to teaching. (Adjuncts and ACFs are compensated for attending the FPDi compensation-eligible workshops, up to nine hours per academic year at the meeting pay rate.)

Addressing Academic Misconduct
Are you wanting to learn more about preventing and reporting academic misconduct? You will learn how to collect evidence and report academic misconduct in your own class. This workshop will also provide tips and strategies to promote academic integrity.

Diversity and Student Success
Diversity is not separation but a look at the individual and an awareness of people from every walk of life and the intersections of people that create varying identities. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: What I’ve learned about Teaching and GenAI
Teaching with AI isn’t just about keeping up—it’s about rethinking what we value in student writing and learning. In this presentation, I’ll share my experiences integrating AI into my English courses, including the patterns I’ve noticed, the feedback I’ve gathered from students, and the mistakes I’ve made along the way.
Tuesday, March 18 from 10 to 11:10 a.m. Register here.

Using Emotional Intelligence in the Classroom
Are you interested in finding out about emotional intelligence (EQ) and how it impacts student success? In this workshop, an FPDI facilitator will share EQ competencies, benefits, applications and its impact on student success. In addition, Active and Collaborative Learning (ACL) activities will be demonstrated.
Wednesday, March 19 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Register here.

Critical Thinking Online
A two-week fully online self-paced workshop designed to take an in-depth look at critical thinking skills and dispositions and address some of the problems that get in the way of our efforts to teach critical thinking effectively.
Note: starts on Friday, March 21, and ends on Friday, April 4. Register here

Getting Started with Alternative Assessment
In this 90-minute workshop, you will learn how to use Alternative Assessment to assess your students’ knowledge and understanding of course concepts and encourage them to apply that knowledge.

Equitable Student Success in Higher Education
