Nancy Case passes away
Update | Tuesday, June 11, 2024
Longtime staff member Nancy Case passed away over the weekend. She played a vital role in various college programs
and initiatives during her more than 15-year tenure.
Case started at Columbus State in 2006 and held many positions before retiring in early 2022. Those positions included Partnerships & Programs dean, Strategic Workforce Development associate vice president, Community & Civic Engagement executive director, Marketing & Communications vice president, Strategic Workforce Development dean, and Transitional Workforce director.
Tara Narcross, Languages and Communication chair, worked closely with Case for many years at the college. “Part – and only part – of the reason so many of us loved Nancy is that she helped us grow beyond our own expectations,” said Narcross. “She saw our potential and gave us agency to fail in order to succeed. She was a strong leader and a caring individual. She was a logical and serious process-oriented person who also loved giraffes and found great joy in life. She treated everyone with respect and valued everyone's contributions. She was her authentic self every day, and I'm not the only one who will greatly miss her wisdom and friendship.”
The obituary and service plans for Nancy Case have been updated at this link. Visitation will be held Friday, June 28. A service and reception will be held Saturday, June 29.
