Cougar Closet Serves

Update | Thursday, April 4, 2024

Last week’s Cougar Closet – a free pop-up shop for transgender and gender non-conforming Columbus State students and employees – was a tremendous success. Serving over 350 people in two days with over a thousand donated pieces of clothing and accessories, Cougar Closet affirmed an unprecedented percentage of trans and non-binary students and created a feeling of welcome that made everyone who participated proud of Columbus State.

Thank you to DEI Faculty Fellow and Associate Professor of Biological and Physical Sciences Julie Posey and Assistant Professor of Languages and Communication Andy Woodmansee for their leadership on this initiative, the 30+ volunteers who worked tirelessly to prepare the shop and serve the participants, and to the entire Columbus State community for your generous donations.
