February 10 Read-In event part of College’s Black History Month
Update | Tuesday, February 1, 2022
For a quarter-century, the Columbus State English Department has partnered with Student Engagement and Inclusion to host the National African American Read-In.
The event helps kick off Black History Month. The Read-In invites schools and community groups to read and share works by and about African Americans to promote literacy across the nation. The National Council of Teachers of English and the International Reading Association record Columbus State’s Read-In.
This year’s Read-In will take place virtually on Thursday, February 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The link is here.
All students, staff, faculty, and community members are invited to attend or participate. Each year, presenters share poems, essays, prose, fiction, spoken word, and original works. To sign up to read, email your name, author name, and selection title to Robyn Lyons-Robinson, professor of English, at rlyons@cscc.edu. The deadline is Monday, February 7.
