As Columbus State gears up for the first year of the Columbus Promise, faculty and staff members spent the week of June 13 with some of the students who will be participating. Nineteen Columbus Promise scholars started their college experience by participating in LEAP Week – Learners Engaged in Academic Preparation.

The free, week-long summer bridge experience offered students the opportunity to meet faculty, connect with services and resources, learn about academic and career paths, and prepare for college classroom expectations. Columbus Promise Scholars taking part in LEAP Week were 2022 graduates of Columbus City Schools who wanted to improve their placement in at least one discipline.

Over the summer, New Student Orientation and the Columbus Promise Team will host about 450 Columbus Promise Scholars on campus.

The program was designed and implemented with leadership from Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, K-12 Partnerships, and Enrollment Management. Individuals include Kimberly Connell, Kelly Hogan, Beth Barnett, Holly Finnegan, Tracy Koski, Dina Galley, Brittany Barrett, Alleigh Bradley, and Tracey Walterbusch. Special thanks to Nicole Martin, Tricia Bradley, Jordan Falb, and Carneshia Archie for their support during the event.
