Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund emergency assistance request
Update | Tuesday, July 5, 2022
The Summer Application for the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) emergency assistance request will be open from Monday, July 11 until Friday, August 5, 2022. Emergency aid assists students in meeting exceptional financial needs resulting from an unexpected event or emergency.
Examples of such events may include the loss of employment (either for themselves or their families), reduced income, or food or housing insecurity. Columbus State will attempt to address each individual circumstance, but with limited funding, the College cannot always meet every request. Therefore, students may apply once per term for emergency assistance, with $500 being the maximum amount a student may receive. Students may complete a request at this link. (This link will be available starting on July 11.)
Housing Assistance
Columbus State has several programs providing financial assistance to students who
are behind on rent or utilities.
- The Columbus State Community College CState Cares Housing & Utilities Grant is funded by Franklin County and the U.S. Department of Treasury through the Emergency Rental Assistance program. It is designed to assist eligible student households residing in Franklin County that are unable to pay rent or utilities due directly or indirectly to the COVID-19 pandemic. For eligibility requirements and an application, go to Housing and Utilities | Columbus State Community College (cscc.edu).
- The Success Bridge Housing Stabilization program continues to provide financial assistance for eligible students who have an overdue rent or a utility bill with a shut-off notice. (We are not accepting applications for housing units). For additional eligibility requirements and the application link, please go to Housing and Utilities | Columbus State Community College (cscc.edu).
The availability of emergency housing options can be limited to certain age groups and populations. Students facing an immediate housing crisis are encouraged to view the Community Guide for People Facing Homelessness for information on the best resource that may fit their individual housing needs.
