Writing Center now available for students

Update | Monday, January 25, 2021

The Writing Center is available for students during Spring Semester until Saturday, May 8. While in-person tutoring is not currently available, students still have access to Columbus State writing tutors for any class requiring writing. They are accessible through the Pisces platform of NetTutor, on a first-come-first-served basis. Sessions will be limited to one-half hour unless students explain an accommodation at the beginning of the session.

The Writing Center website provides times when tutors will be on Pisces.

Instructions are below on how to access the writing tutors.

To meet with a Columbus State tutor:

1. Access NetTutor by clicking the green “n” in the upper right-hand corner of any Blackboard course shell you have.
2. Choose the “Pisces” box.
3. Select "Writing and Paper Center.”
4. Enter the "One-on-One Live Rooms" to see which Writing Center tutors are available.

If a Columbus State tutor is not available, you may also choose to chat with a NetTutor tutor, to submit a quick question for them, or to submit a paper for full review later. To access them:

1. Access NetTutor by clicking the green “n” in the upper right-hand corner of any Blackboard course shell you have.
2. Choose the “NetTutor” box.
3. Select “Writing and Paper Center.”
4. Pick the appropriate box for how you want to interact with the tutor*
(*Note: If you choose to upload your paper for review, you will be notified via email when your paper and review comments are ready to be picked up, typically within 48 hours.)

A record of all your tutoring sessions is saved in your "Writing and Paper Center" Locker in NetTutor.

Questions about the Writing Center might be addressed on its website. If not, you may email the Writing Center Coordinator, Rachel Brooks-Pannell, at writingcenter@cscc.edu
