Student Affairs launches identity-specific resource pages

Update | Tuesday, June 15, 2021

The Division of Student Affairs has launched a new section on the Campus Life homepage that features identity-specific resources for students. Linked primarily to Cougar Connect, the pages provide information and links for on-campus and off-campus services, resources, and organizations. Groups include former foster youth, LGBTQ+, military veterans, and first-generation college students.

“We are committed to ensuring that all students feel seen, heard, and supported throughout their time at Columbus State,” said Desiree Polk-Bland, vice president of Student Affairs. “Currently, we’re highlighting some of our student identities with the purpose of promoting a sense of belonging, raising the visibility of minoritized populations, and eventually growing connections among and between communities.” Identities and resources are always evolving. “Additional resource pages will continue to be developed to support expansion of identities,” Polk-Bland said.
