OSU program now recruiting for Scholars Program

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion at The Ohio State University is now recruiting Columbus State students for the Spring 2022 cohort of the Dr. James L. Moore III Scholars Program. The program’s capacity is 25 so encourage students to apply now. 

The program is a student development initiative focused on underrepresented, low-income, and first-generation transfer students attending Columbus State. This program has been designed to provide transitional support to students with a focus on study skills, leadership skill building, and professional development.  

Program Benefits:

  •  JLM Social Engagement Activities
  • A Social Peer Assistant to help each participant navigate OSU and make connections
  • Individualized Academic Success Coaching
  • Access to Supplemental Academic Services such as ODI’s Tutoring Program and ODI’s Supplemental Instruction, via ODI’s Academic Services 
  • Access to Scholarship and Financial Aid Counseling via ODI’s Scholarship Services  
  • Invitation to ODI events
  • Connection to other ODI affiliated programs, initiatives, and services
  • Study abroad support if travel is permitted

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Columbus State Community College transfer student – must apply to the program within the first transfer, academic year 
  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Must enroll a minimum of six semester hours at The Ohio State University, Columbus Campus

Identify as one of the following:

  • Historically Underrepresented Minority (African American, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Hispanic/Latinx, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander)
  • Pell Eligible (per financial aid award letter)
  • First-generation College Student (Neither parent earned a bachelor's degree)

Scholars who participate in the 2022 cohort can earn up to $1,200 for participating. The incentive is dependent upon what elements students complete and split into two disbursements (in the middle and at the end of the semester).
