Staff Employee of the Month: Mandy Mernedakis

Mandy Mernedakis was named the Staff Employee of the Month at last week’s First Wednesday meeting. She is a teaching assistant in the Human Services Department, where she works as an advisor for a variety of certificate programs that are available to students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

In her nomination letter, Christine Creagh, associate professor, said that Mandy goes far beyond the required responsibilities. “She attends financial aid meetings with students and families to help them through that sometimes confusing process. She has coached several students to help them earn a driver’s license. Few students among this (disabled) population have a driver’s license. By helping them earn one, Mandy gives them freedom and additional opportunities in life,” said Creagh.
