Global Diversity and Inclusion Certificate

Are you interested in learning more about yourself, our diverse Columbus State community, how you can increase cultural competence in your life, or how to cultivate equitable practices in the classroom and office?

The inaugural Global Diversity and Inclusion Certificate is a structured opportunity that focuses on developing greater cultural competence through strengthening knowledge, awareness, behaviors, and skills. No prior diversity, equity, or inclusion experience necessary.

We’ve organized the series so participants start from the basics and conclude with the development of specific skills that you can apply to your life, your teaching, and your work.

The Diversity Certificate can also serve as an excellent addition to your resume and professional development goals. If you have questions, please contact Brett Welsh at extension 2426.

First semester results: To let you know how we’ve done, each of the six sessions had outstanding participant attendance numbers. Each session in the series saw anywhere from 18-37 attendees each Friday. That is an average of nearly 28 participants per session! By the end of the semester, over 50 percent of all participants completed three or more training sessions. 10 members completed all six pieces of training, which accounted for a total of nearly twelve hours of commitment over the course of the semester.

To register, log in to Cornerstone and hover over the “Learning” tab in the upper left. That will bring up a pull-down menu. Select “Events Calendar.” Click on the event listed on the date of the event. Select Request to register. (See this guide for search and registration tips.)
