The Office of Academic Affairs Instructional Success Committee is proud to announce the November presentation for the Faculty Idea Exchange (FIX) Virtual Lecture Series on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Classroom. This is the second in a series of professional development presentations that will occur monthly, leading up to the 2021 Faculty Idea Exchange, scheduled for July 9, 2021, at the WD Conference Center.

Cultural Competency in the Classroom

Description:
This presentation will focus on openly addressing diversity in classroom settings
and working to create an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students.
You will learn the importance of de-constructing classroom norms, understand aspects
of cultural competency in educational settings, and how to navigate challenging classroom
situations, all of which impact student success. Examples of specific changes that
can be integrated into syllabi, assessments, and teaching styles will also be provided
to participants. This workshop will be interactive, and participants will be asked
to complete pre-reflection activities and readings.
