Faculty and staff training available as part of Disability Awareness Month

Update | Tuesday, October 6, 2020

As part of Disability Awareness month, Columbus State’s Disability Services is sponsoring two unique training sessions open to all faculty and staff.

Friday, October 9 at 11 a.m.: Read&Write (R&W)- Supporting Students with Reading, Writing and Research

Did you know that R&W is FREE to all CSCC students, faculty, and staff!  Join Disability Services for a session that will cover how to install the program and how to use some of the many literacy tools offered within Read&Write. From hearing emails or documents read out loud, to text prediction, picture dictionaries, summary highlighters, and a grammar, spelling and confusable words checker, Read&Write makes lots of everyday literacy tasks simpler, quicker and more accurate.

Friday, October 16 at 11 a.m.: How to Ensure Accessible Word Docs
Learn to create accessible Word docs right from the start. Being proactive, rather than reactive, and incorporating Universal Design during the creation process is key. Keeping accessibility in mind when creating classroom and online materials is more time effective and cost efficient in the long run.

Both training sessions will be held in Microsoft Teams and recorded for future viewing. To RSVP for one or both sessions, please email disability@cscc.edu.

If you need to request an interpreter for this session, please submit a request to interpreterrequest@cscc.edu as soon as possible to secure these services for the date needed.

If you need any other type of ADA accommodation to attend this session, please contact Michael Hicks at mhicks25@cscc.edu to submit that request.
