DEIS assists with faculty training; next session is April 3

Distance Education & Instructional Services (DEIS) held 65 live-streamed training sessions for faculty during the extended break. With classes back in session, the next online session will focus on plagiarism detection and the Grading Tool.

Above, English Professor Ann Palazzo gives advice on best practices of using the Discussion Boards in the Blackboard Fundamentals training session in the CT building. Distance Education & Instructional Services (DEIS) held 65 live-streamed training sessions for faculty during the extended break. As many as 3,000 faculty members tuned into the sessions.

The next online training session will be Turnitin: Plagiarism Detector and Grading Tool.
Faculty can check student assignments for plagiarism and use Turnitin as a grading tool. Topics in this web conference include:

·         How to create a Turnitin Direct assignment (including how to create rubrics)

·         How students submit a Turnitin Direct assignment and how they access the originality report and spelling/grammar feedback

·         How instructors access the originality report and what it means

·         How instructors access the spelling and grammar feedback and what it means

·         How instructors provide feedback to their students (including how to grade with rubrics and manage quickmarks)

·         How students access their feedback and grades
