Joint concert attracts a crowd

The Columbus State Concert Band and the Jazz Ensemble performed a joint concert on March 3 before a near-capacity crowd in the WD Conference Center Ballroom. The Concert Band, under the direction of Thomas Lloyd, performed the music of women composers. The Jazz Ensemble, directed by Kie Watkins, played several classic American tunes. The two groups concluded the concert by jointly playing "Tuning Up" by Toshiko Akiyoshi in a special arrangement by Lloyd, which was authorized by the composer.
