Faculty news and Chosen Name update
Update | Tuesday, September 22, 2020
This Autumn Semester, faculty members will experience a new way to view their schedules, class rosters, and to submit midterm and final grades. As part of the College’s Self-Service Rollout project, this effort continues to migrate features away from WebAdvisor and onto the Self-Service platform in order to remain in a supported technology environment.
The launch’s timing was intentional: aligning with the Chosen Name project ensures that rosters will now display a student’s chosen name and pronouns. An additional benefit of this release is a new “attendance” option, which provides a tracking mechanism for in-person classes as part of COVID-19 tracing protocols.
This instructional guide has been developed for any faculty member who may need assistance with using the new interface.
The Chosen Name project, which launched a month ago, has been overwhelmingly successful.
Students and employees are taking advantage of this opportunity. In fact, 80% of new students have provided chosen names, gender identities, and pronouns on their application.
