Proctors needed for student engagement survey

Update | Thursday, February 27, 2020

Columbus State will administer the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) starting on Tuesday, March 17. As many as 140 employee volunteers are needed to make it happen.

As a proctor, your time commitment isa little more than one hour per session. That includes the time to pick up and return survey packets. You can proctor as many classes as you would like.

CCSSE provides a series of metrics to assess our success around student’s experiences, what they feel they have gained from their coursework, and how they assess their relationships with faculty, counselors, peers, and other College employees. Columbus State has made many improvements based on feedback from our students.

To volunteer to be a proctor:

1. Please register at https://web.cscc.edu/is/employeetraining/courses.asp. You will find the CCSSE sections under Assessment. If you do not see a class, date, or time that works for your schedule, please check back on the employee training registration site periodically as the information will be updated as it is received from faculty members.

2. Pick up your packet of surveys and pencils no more than two days in advance of your date. Location details will be sent after registration.

3. Go to the class on the date selected by the faculty member, read the script, hand out the survey to students then collect the surveys and pencils when students finish. You will then complete and sign the Proctor Information page.

4. Return surveys and pencils to the same location where you picked up the packet.

Note: Faculty members are encouraged to serve as proctors, but may not proctor their own class. Your volunteer time can also be included under the faculty promotion category of “Service to the College.” Staff, please obtain your manager’s approval before registering to proctor.

If you have additional questions about CCSSE, please email ccsse@cscc.edu .
