Accreditation review scheduled October 28 and 29

Update | Monday, September 9, 2019

The Higher Learning Commission (HLC), which is the College’s regional accreditor, will be conducting an on-site Comprehensive Quality Review (CQR) visit October 28-29. A team of five Peer Reviewers will be visiting the Columbus Campus to meet with various groups of administrators, faculty, staff, and students.

This visit is part of the comprehensive evaluation process and is conducted to determine if an institution continues to meet the five Criteria for Accreditation. Institutional advances in continuous quality improvement are also reviewed during the CQR visit.

In preparing the campus for this extremely important visit, Bruce Massis, accreditation liaison officer, and David Tom, faculty fellow for accreditation, have been conducting preparatory meetings with campus groups to ensure the proper background information is provided. In advance of the HLC visit, they encourage faculty and staff to review two important documents.

The first is the Systems Portfolio, a document that was carefully and methodically researched and written by a team of our faculty, administrators, and staff over the course of 18 months before it was submitted to the HLC. It is appraised by a team of HLC peer reviewers, who provide feedback on the institution’s strengths and opportunities for improvement, describes processes, results, and improvement in each of the College’s systems, and shows evidence that the institution continues to meet the Criteria for Accreditation. Read the report here.

The second document is the Systems Appraisal Feedback Report. This report is designed to provide the College with feedback from a team of peer reviewers experienced in continuous quality improvement and systems thinking. Read the report here.
