Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Update | Thursday, April 4, 2024
April is designated as Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). Each April, communities nationwide come together to focus on sexual violence prevention, education, and resources.
This year, the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC) encourages us to focus on “Building Connected Communities” to prevent sexual violence. According to NSVRC, “We must strive to create strong, connected communities that take care of one another. Communities that make decisions to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all members are critical to ending sexual violence worldwide.” Together, we can create a healthy, welcoming, and respectful environment that supports Columbus State student and employee success.
You can learn more about how Columbus State addresses concerns of sexual harassment/sexual violence by visiting the Compliance Office website, which hosts information about support resources, bystander intervention, and how to respond to a disclosure of sexual harassment as well as training and education opportunities for employees and students.
Learn more here about the history of SAAM and this year’s “Building Connected Communities.”
