Cougar 5K Challenge goes virtual
Update | Tuesday, March 31, 2020
With the continuing questions on the short-term impact of the coronavirus outbreak, the Columbus State Cougar 5K Challenge is going virtual this year. Sponsored by the Staff Advisory Council (SAC), participants will still be able to participate in this year’s 5K by running or walking the race on their own time and their own space.
Instead of running together on the Delaware Campus, each person can run or walk the 5K wherever – and whenever – they choose between Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 10. SAC will send a follow-up email closer to the start date to explain how to submit race times to qualify for some awesome prizes.
In place of a packet pick-up, they will hand out swag bags with each participant’s t-shirt and medal sometime after we’re able to return to campus. If you’re not on campus, SAC will make plans to get you a swag bag another way.
There’s still time to get your friends and family to sign up and compete in the virtual Cougar 5K too. Encourage others to stay active by inviting them to race against you from a distance. The registration fee will stay at a flat rate and not increase in April as previously planned.
Join SAC virtually this year so we can all stay healthy and continue supporting our students! If you have any questions, please contact Nichole Bowman-Glover, Wellness coordinator.
