Spring Break
Along with the switch to the semester system that all Ohio colleges have completed comes a traditional college/university calendar that includes a "Spring Break" during March.
Spring Break at Columbus State runs Sunday, March 10 through Saturday, March 16.
During Spring Break, the college is open and all student services will maintain normal service hours at all campuses and Regional Learning Centers. Classes will not be held during Spring Break, and faculty members will not offer office hours.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is Columbus State "open" during Spring Break March 10-16?
Answer: All campuses and college offices are open during Spring Break with normal hours of operation. Spring Break is similar to the break between semesters, when the college is open but no classes are scheduled and the faculty is not on campus.
Are there ANY classes being held during Spring Break?
Answer: No classes will be held during Spring Break. Some groups who have previously arranged to meet during the break may do so, as may some non-credit seminars or workshops in the Center for Workforce Development.
Are my online classes also on Spring Break?
Answer: Yes, online classes are also on break. If you see specific assignments that are due during the break, you may wish to contact your professor to clarify due dates.
I have a Sunday class. Will my class be in session on Sunday, March 17?
Answer: Officially yes, but check with your instructor to make sure they intend to hold class on March 17.
Can I meet with my professors for office hours during Spring Break?
Answer: Faculty at Columbus State will not hold regular office hours during the break.
Will the Columbus State staff be working during Spring Break?
Answer: Yes, staff in student services and college offices will maintain regular office hours during Spring Break. You may want to call ahead for an appointment if you wish to meet with a specific staff member during the break.
Can I take tests in the Testing Center during Spring Break?
Answer: The Testing Center will be open with its normal business hours and will adhere to its standard testing practices, which includes placement testing and testing services required by students who have been previously arranged and authorized by faculty.
Will the Columbus State Bookstore be open during break?
Answer: The Bookstore will be open for regular business hours March 11-13, but closed for inventory March 14-16.
Will any foodservice be available during the break?
Answer: Only the Skyward Grille food cart and the C-Store in the Bookstore will offer foodservice with limited hours during the break. The C-Store will be closed for inventory March 14-16.
Will the Library be open during Spring Break?
Answer: The Library will be closed, Sunday, March 10 and open 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, March 11-15. The Library will be closed Saturday, March 16. The Library will be open Sunday, March 17 1:00-5:00 p.m."
Will the Computer Commons in TL be available?
Answer: Yes, but hours will be reduced. The Computer Commons will be open from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., March 11- 16, and resume regular open hours on Sunday, March 17.
Can I register for Summer Semester and/or pay my fees during Spring Break?
Answer: Yes, all college offices including Records & Registration, Financial Aid, and the Cashier & Student Accounting offices will be open for normal business hours. The Financial Aid office will be closed for staff training from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13 and Thursday, March 14. The office will be open from 2 to 7:30 p.m. on those days.
Can I meet with an academic advisor or financial aid advisor during break?
Answer: The Financial Aid Office and Advising Services on the Columbus Campus and Student Services on the Delaware Campus will be open with regular business hours during the break, but if you want to meet with a specific staff member you should call ahead for an appointment. - Note that if you have a faculty advisor, you will not be able to meet with your advisor during Spring Break.
Will the Telephone Information Center (TIC) answer phone calls during the break? How about the Help Desk?
Answer: Both the TIC and the Help Desk will be staffed for normal business hours during Spring Break, and will be able to help you.
