Blackboard Ultra update
Update | Friday, January 9, 2026
Columbus State continues to make great progress on the transition from Blackboard Learn (Original Course View) to Blackboard Ultra. All Columbus State courses will be in Ultra by Autumn Semester 2026.
Early student feedback for Ultra has been overwhelmingly positive. Students appreciate the ease of navigation, the modern and responsive design, and the built-in search, making it easy to find course materials.
How many students will be in an Ultra course during Spring 2026?
In Spring Semester 2026, approximately 1,200 courses will be in Ultra, with more than
20,000 enrolled students. This is a significant increase from 90 courses and 1,800
students last semester (Autumn Semester 2025).
Where can I find help for Blackboard Ultra?
During this transition, faculty and organization leaders will continue to work directly
with Digital Education and Instructional Services (DEIS) and the Faculty Assistance
Center. DEIS is providing training, one-on-one bookings, open labs, and Faculty Professional
Development initiative (FPDi) workshops to assist faculty with this transition. For
more information about faculty support, visit cs-cc.net/ultra.
IT offers a variety of training and support options available to students, including a combination of on-demand resources, live online training, and in-person support. Learn about Available Blackboard Training here. For more information about IT support, visit their website at cscc.edu/ithelp.
