TARGET
TARGET is an exciting new addition The First Tee Life Skills Experience™. Developed to ensure that all participants are introduced to golf in an enjoyable manner, while seamlessly emphasizing essential links between golf and life skills. This early, positive experiences helps young people develop an immediate interest in opportunities available at The First Tee, as well as a lifelong interest in the game of golf

An introduction to The First Tee Life Skills Experience™. Session length 60 minutes
Certification Levels
At the completion of each session, participants are individually assessed on their mastery of Life Skills and golf skills knowledge and application to earn The First Tee Certification. The primary purpose of The First Tee Certification is to ensure every participant is proficient and has acquired the designated level of golf and life skills as they progress at each level. Participants with advance golf skills are given the opportunity to test out of a maximum of two levels.
PLAYer
Introduces the game with special emphasis on learning basic golf skills, The First
Tee Code of Conduct™, appreciation of the rules and etiquette of the game, and developing
your game in golf and life.
Prerequisite: Age 7
Session length 90 minutes
PLAYer II
Focuses on further development of golf techniques and life skills.
Prerequisite: age 7, PLAYer I
Session length 90 minutes
PLAYer III
Certification preparation:
- Written Life Skills and golf skills knowledge exam
- Putting Skills: 9-hole putting (No-score required)
- Playing Skills: One 9-hole round played in 2 hours 25 minutes (No-score required)
Prerequisite: age 7, PLAYer I and II
Session length 90 minutes
Par
Further emphasis on safety, golf terminology, golf etiquette and course play.
Prerequisite: Age 9; PLAYer certification
Session length 90 minutes
Par II
Further explores the game of golf and an emphasis on interpersonal and self management
skills.
Prerequisite: age 9, PLAYer certification, Par I
Session length 90 minutes
Par III
Certification preparation:
- Written Life Skills and golf skills knowledge exam
- Putting Skills: 9-hole putting course in a maximum of 27 strokes
- Short Game Skills: 3-hole up-and-down course in a maximum of 12 strokes
- Playing Skills: 9-hole round played in 2 hours 15 minutes
Prerequisite: age 9, PLAYer certification, Par I, II
Session length 120 minutes
Birdie
Emphasizes goal-setting and game play.
Prerequisite: Age 11; PLAYer certification; Par certification
Session length 120 minutes
Birdie II
In-depth application of The Rules of Golf as set by the USGA and the R & A rules limited,
etiquette and healthy life choices.
Prerequisite: age 11, PLAYer, Par certification, Birdie I
Session length 120 minutes
Birdie III
Certification preparation:
- Written Life Skills and golf skills knowledge exam
- Putting Skills: 9-hole putting course in a maximum of 23 strokes
- Short Game Skills: 6 hole up-and-down course in a maximum of 21 strokes
- Full Swing: Hit three out of six greens from 60 yards
- Playing Skills: five 9-hole rounds played in 2 hours 05 minutes each
Prerequisite: age 11, PLAYer, Par certification, Birdie I, II
Session length 120 minutes
Eagle
Builds on PLAYer, Par and Birdie levels, emphasizing resilience skills, conflict resolution
and planning for the future.
Prerequisite: Age 13; PLAYer, Par, Birdie certification
Session length 150 minutes
Ace
Advance level of The First Tee Life Skills Experience™ focusing on personal planning
for golf, career, volunteerism and education.
Prerequisite: Age 14; PLAYer; Par; Birdie and Eagle certification
Session length 150 minutes
