1. How do I apply/how do I get started?

To get started with the application and enrollment process, click here to be taken to the "Next Steps" guide. The guide contains step-by-step instructions for all student populations.

2. How do I apply if I am in a specific student population (International, Veteran, Transfer, Transient/Guest, College Credit Plus)?

The "Next Steps" guide contains step-by-step instructions for all student applicant populations.

3. I already have a degree and just want to take a few classes. How do I get started?

You will need to complete an application for admission to the college. Click here to apply. Once you receive your notification of acceptance, contact the Center for Advising, Support, and Exploration for assistance with course selection and next steps.

4. I attended a high school career-technical program. What I do next?

Many students in high school career-technical programs are eligible for college credit at Columbus State. First, you will need to click here to Apply for Admission. After receiving your letter of acceptance, you will email sminton@cscc.edu for instructions on how to enroll and receive possible college credit for some of your coursework.

5. I took Columbus State classes while still in high school and want to continue at Columbus State. What do I do next?

If you are currently enrolled in College Credit Plus and wish to continue on at Columbus State after completing high school, click here for detailed instructions. If you are interested in taking classes while you are in high school, please visit the Dual Credit/College Credit Plus page for more details to help you get started. 

6. Do I need to take the placement test?

The placement test determines the appropriate course level placement for first term students. You may be exempt from taking some or all sections of the test if you have qualifying ACT, SAT, AP, or CLEP scores or have transcripts from another college or university. Click here for details.

7. Do you require the ACT or SAT?

No, these tests are not required for admission to Columbus State. However, ACT and SAT scores can be submitted and may be utilized for placement purposes. Click here for details.

8. I’m currently a student at another college and want to take classes at Columbus State. How do I get started?

Please refer to the "Next Steps" guide for step-by-step instructions for all student applicant populations. If you will be taking courses at Columbus State to transfer back to your home institution, follow the guidelines under “Transient/Guest” student. If you are transferring from your current college to Columbus State, please follow the enrollment steps under “Transfer” student.

9. Where do I send my transcripts?

10. Do I have to send my high school/GED transcripts?

Yes. Final, official high school transcripts and/or GED records must also be sent if required for your program of study, scholarships, financial aid verification, or to meet prerequisites for programs or courses.

11. Can I take classes online and at regional learning centers in the same semester?

Yes. Students may schedule classes at any Columbus State location where offered and in combination with online offerings. View classes that are offer both in person and online by clicking here.
