Hospitality Management provides quality learning
experiences to enhance initial employment opportunities and to improve
technical and supervisory skills for career advancement in food
service, lodging and tourism. Columbus State Community College,
in cooperation with the American Culinary Federation Columbus Chapter,
offers the theory-related classroom instruction and on-the-job training
required for the National Apprenticeship Training Program of the
American Culinary Federation (ACF).
The Chef Apprenticeship Major is accredited by the Commission on
Accreditation of Hospitality |

Management Programs (CAHM) and the American Culinary Federation
Foundation
Accrediting Commission. It consists of 3 years or 6,000 hours on-the-job
training as an apprentice to a qualified chef in an approved full
service restaurant, club or hotel. At the same time, the apprentice
attends classes at Columbus State one full day each week. A
Supplemental
Application to the Chef Apprenticeship is required. Upon completion
of the program, the apprentice receives an Associate of Applied
Science Degree in Hospitality Management. The graduate qualifies
as a Certified Culinarian (CC) through the ACF and a Journeyman
Chef through the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship
and Training. |
