HUM 299 Special Topics
in Humanities (Classical Greece)

This interdisciplinary course bridging history, art history, arts and
philosophy focuses on selected issues related to ancient Greek Civilization. The
course covers more than two thousand years of Greek civilization, from the
Bronze Age through the Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic periods. The readings
for the course are coordinated with the itinerary to enhance the students travel
experience. Professors will deliver on site lectures at museums and
archaeological sites. The program provides substantial free time for
participants to experience modern Greek culture as well. Upon return to the
States, students will meet once per week for five weeks during the summer
quarter. Class meetings will follow a seminar format in which students will
discuss a range of topics pertaining to Greek civilization. Additionally
students will write and present a research paper. Students seeking credit will
be required to enroll at Columbus State. With the permission of the instructor,
the course may also be completed on-line. Students who wish to audit the class
should seek the signature of the Program Coordinator and the final approval of
the Chairman of the Department and the Dean of the Arts and Science Division.
HUM 290 Capstone Experience in the Humanities
With permission of the Instructor. Hum 299 may
substitute for Hum 290 Capstone Experience in Humanities or History.
