A veterinary technician is a medical professional who uses the skills of a nurse, dental hygienist, surgical assistant, radiology technician, laboratory technician, medical transcriptionist, pharmacy technician, client educator and nutritionist. Columbus State's program prepares you to play an integral role in many areas of veterinary medicine, including clinical, surgical, laboratory and office procedures.

You'll take coursework ranging from veterinary anatomy, pharmacology, radiology and parasitology to business communication and clinical experience. As a graduate, you will be able to provide animal health care services including physical examination, administration of anesthesia, client communication and record keeping under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian.

But, most important, you will have acquired skills to ensure the health and well-being of animals.
