Demand for Surgical Technologists is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2010. Now's the time to sharpen your skills and join the team.

As a Surgical Technologist, you will learn to operate the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, sterile curtains and other equipment. You will wash, shave and disinfect patients; observe vital signs and check charts.

Although most Surgical Technologists work in hospitals, greater employment growth is predicted for physician-owned hospitals, surgeons' offices and clinics. "Private scrubs" are employed by surgeons with special surgical teams, such as those who work on organ transplants.

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
• Surgical Technician
• Operating Room Technician

Licensing

Following graduation, Surgical Technicians may be licensed by the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist.
