Using Financial Aid at the Columbus State Bookstore
Prior to the beginning of the term, eligible financial aid recipients will have a credit, up to $800, designated solely for the purchase of textbooks and course materials*. The credit can be used in the Columbus State Bookstore at 283 Cleveland Avenue for purchases of textbooks (new, used, select rental and eBooks), reference books, office and school supplies, medical supplies, technology products, backpacks and totes, academically required apparel (nursing uniforms, martial arts, chefwear, graduation caps and gowns) and other required supplies related to your scheduled courses (yoga, lab, hospitality, art, and drafting).
Required course textbooks, along with a limited selection of other required course materials, can be ordered online at the Columbus State Bookstore. There are two delivery options available: Students can have orders shipped free (within four days) to the Delaware Campus or the Regional Learning Centers (Dublin, Gahanna, Reynoldsburg, Southwest Center at Bolton Field, and Westerville) and students that live outside Franklin County may have their textbooks and course materials delivered through UPS (standard UPS charges and delivery timelines apply).
Please keep in mind, online orders for ineligible items* will not be filled. Also, if a student does not have a sufficient Financial Aid Book Allowance credit available to cover the entire purchase, the order will be canceled. Returns require a Columbus State receipt and must be made in accordance with the Columbus State Bookstore return policy.
Remaining financial aid credit balances equal to the student's total financial aid disbursement, minus tuition and related fees and minus the amount used at the Columbus State Bookstore, will be disbursed in the form of a check or direct deposit. Students who purchase their books from a vendor other than the Columbus State Bookstore will receive the total sum of their remaining financial aid credit balance via check or direct deposit based on the disbursement schedule set forth for each semester. It is important to note that no check or direct deposit disbursement of funds will be made prior to this date. Students who opt to purchase their textbooks and course materials elsewhere should plan accordingly.
*Exclusions apply. Financial Aid book allowance credits cannot be used for the following purchases: online rental textbooks, food, drinks, apparel (academically required apparel is accepted), gifts (mugs, cards, seasonal items, diploma frames), general books, newspapers, gift cards and stamps.
