mission

The mission of Staff Advisory Council is to serve with honesty and integrity as a liason for staff, representing their concerns and ideas to the administration while also fulfilling good works in the community and, in all things, representing the mission of the college.

Summary of our lastest SAC meeting...

At our April 10 meeting, Jan Rogers, Dean of Student Life, talked about the Student Code of Conduct and it's foundational principles.

Mandy Gollhofer of the Benefits Committee reported that the college is staying with United Health Care for next year, and the increase in our cost is only 6% – very reasonable, considering the economic times. Also, the college will be offering a new option for vision care, the "Vision Service Plan", or VSP. We will all still have the UHC vision coverage, but now employees can choose to add VSP, and the college will pick up 50% of the premium.

See Meeting Dates and Minutes for more details about our meetings.

letter from the chair...

On behalf of the Staff Advisory Council, we would like to thank all those who supported “One Campus, One Community” events. We especially appreciate the work and support of Institutional Advancement and our Columbus State DX in preparation for these events.

Our staff and students gained valuable information and contact with departments throughout Columbus State, including Academic Advising, Admissions, Counseling Services, Disability Services, Financial Aide, Public Safety, Student Activities, as well as our Diversity & Study Abroad and Grants & Loans representatives. Columbus State representatives were joined by advisors from Capital University and Franklin University.

During these events, students also had the opportunity to ask questions and receive information from Columbus State representatives from the Construction Management, Dental Hygiene and Sports and Fitness technologies. Staff and students were able to obtain information from Mid State Credit Union concerning financial assistance.

The Staff Advisory Council held its first bake sale at the Columbus State Dublin Open House. All proceeds from this bake sale benefit Holidays are for Kids. SAC representatives Betty Richardson and Susan Thomas joined Activities Chairperson Tina Spencer for this event. We want to thank them for their dedication to this project and for bringing it to the Dublin Open House. We also want to recognize the help of Tonja Lawson and all those who donated baked goods for this sale.

Many contributed to the success of our One Community events including Off – Campus administrators and staff, Staff Advisory Council representatives, and CSCC physical plant personnel whose help was greatly appreciated.

On behalf of our students, staff, and faculty; thank you for everything you did to make our Student Success Fair a success for everyone.

Staff Advisory Chairperson,

Teresa Lister
