about staff advisory council (sac)

Staff Advisory Council (SAC) was established to ensure that there will always be a means of open communication among the various levels of the College community.

Responsibilities
SAC has been commissioned by the President and sanctioned by the Board of Trustees of Columbus State Community College to review, evaluate and make recommendations on institutional and staff development concerns. Matters to be discussed by the Council can be initiated by staff members, SAC Representatives or the President.

Membership
SAC Representatives are elected by full-time staff employees from the areas they represent. Each representative serves a two-year term. Representatives will voice your concerns to SAC, and report back to you on college developments that matter to YOU!

Meetings
SAC meetings are typically held on the second Thursday of each month. Our meetings are open to all staff employees. Please join us when you have the opportunity!

Committees
Activities Committee - plans and coordinates SAC activities including our community fundraisers.

By-Laws Committee
- explores issues to improve the function of Staff Advisory Council, and updates the By-Laws as needed.

Elections and Membership Committee
- is responsible for promoting and maintaining SAC membership by holding elections and monitoring vacancies.

Staff Professional Development Committee
- is responsible for discovering and promoting professional development opportunities for both the Council itself and staff as a whole. They also plan our annual SAC retreat.

letter from the chair...

On behalf of the Staff Advisory Council, we would like to thank all those who supported “One Campus, One Community” events. We especially appreciate the work and support of Institutional Advancement and our Columbus State DX in preparation for these events.

Our staff and students gained valuable information and contact with departments throughout Columbus State, including Academic Advising, Admissions, Counseling Services, Disability Services, Financial Aide, Public Safety, Student Activities, as well as our Diversity & Study Abroad and Grants & Loans representatives. Columbus State representatives were joined by advisors from Capital University and Franklin University.

During these events, students also had the opportunity to ask questions and receive information from Columbus State representatives from the Construction Management, Dental Hygiene and Sports and Fitness technologies. Staff and students were able to obtain information from Mid State Credit Union concerning financial assistance.

The Staff Advisory Council held its first bake sale at the Columbus State Dublin Open House. All proceeds from this bake sale benefit Holidays are for Kids. SAC representatives Betty Richardson and Susan Thomas joined Activities Chairperson Tina Spencer for this event. We want to thank them for their dedication to this project and for bringing it to the Dublin Open House. We also want to recognize the help of Tonja Lawson and all those who donated baked goods for this sale.

Many contributed to the success of our One Community events including Off – Campus administrators and staff, Staff Advisory Council representatives, and CSCC physical plant personnel whose help was greatly appreciated.

On behalf of our students, staff, and faculty; thank you for everything you did to make our Student Success Fair a success for everyone.

Staff Advisory Chairperson,

Teresa Lister
