Admissions Checklist

Congratulations, you are one step closer to a college degree! At the end of this year you will graduate from high school and complete your Career-Technical Program. In order to ensure that you get college credit and financial assistance for your program at Columbus State, you will want to follow the steps outlined below. It’s never too early to get started! Please let us know if you have questions. We look forward to seeing you soon and to having you as a student at Columbus State!

Be sure to complete all of the following steps:

  • Complete a CSCC application online at

  • Apply for the Tech Prep Scholarship and other scholarships at Columbus State. This can cover up to nearly half of your first year of tuition and some scholarships are renewable! For more information, visit (Scholarship applications were due June 2, 2014. Students will be notified of the results in June and July 2014.)

  • Have your 2014 Articulation Agreement initialed and signed (along with course grade) by your Career-Technical/Tech Prep Program instructor. Your instructor will complete the “Instructor’s signature” section on page three of the form. You will complete the part with your personal information. Make a copy of your completed form and keep it for your records. You will find Tech Prep articulation agreements and other resources at Keep the original for your appointment with an Admissions advisor.

In your appointment you will review your Articulation Agreement and the remaining steps to enroll at CSCC. Please bring your completed and signed original Articulation Agreement form to this appointment, along with any notes from the Orientation or New Student Workshop if you have attended it.

  • Complete the COMPASS/ESL Placement test (allow approximately two hours). Sample test items, testing hours, and other information are available at compass.shtml. Students who have completed the ACT test, AP or CLEP courses, or who have college credit for English or Math, may be exempt from taking all or part of the placement. Please have official ACT and/or AP scores sent to Columbus State.  For more information, visit

  • Register for an Orientation at to review your placement test results, plan your first semester schedule, find out how to register for classes, learn to use the CSCC online Cougar Web student services system, and get information about program and college resources. 

  • Register for classes and make sure your fees are paid by August 20, 2014.  Please note:  Registration for Autumn Semester 2014 has been underway since April 21, 2014.

Good luck in your future endeavors. Remember, you must enroll at Columbus State within 18 months of your high school graduation in order to take advantage of the Articulation Agreement.
