Series booklet makes it easy for you to find valuable resources – all in one spot.
The booklet brings together resources and workshops to help you make the most of your
Columbus State experience.
Some of the topics include academic assistance and resources, campus involvement,
career planning, study abroad/travel opportunities, wellness classes and intramurals.
In addition to getting great information and meeting new friends, you can also use
these events to build your resume and transcript. Any workshop with the BLUEprint designation will be documented for your records. The booklet can be found online here.
Ohio Growth Summit celebrates 10th anniversary June

Starting new businesses and creating jobs will once again be the theme of the annual
Ohio Growth Summit in Columbus. Started in 2004 by the Ohio Small Business Development
Center (SBDC) at Columbus State, the event brings entrepreneurs and business owners
together to help provide insight and strategy on how to start a business.
“During these still-challenging economic times it’s more important than ever for business
owners - and aspiring business owners - to be innovative,” says Michael Bowers, Director
of Workforce Development at Columbus State. “Business growth helps provide more jobs,
higher wages, and a better economy for the region.”
The two-day summit kicks off at noon, Wednesday, June 4, at the Center for Workforce Development, 315 Cleveland Ave. Tell us why you want

Lights are on at the Grove and Cleveland crossing
While the final touches are being made to the three-year Columbus Crossroads project
on I-71 and I-670, one portion that provides a big benefit for the Columbus Campus
is the completion of the crosswalk signal at Cleveland Avenue and Grove Street. You
should no longer have to step onto Cleveland Avenue “just hoping” that drivers will
Officials at the college have been working with the City of Columbus for years to
get the pedestrian signal for the busy crosswalk. The massive road construction and
improvements connected to the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Columbus Crossroads
project provided a timely window for the city to upgrade the intersection. The upgrade
also includes an important left turn lane on southbound Cleveland Avenue for vehicles
turning into campus. The signal went fully operational on May 21.

If you are interested in the field of healthcare, becoming a pharmacy technician is
a great place to start. The Pharmacy Technician Program at Columbus State gets you
job-ready with just four classes (10 credit hours – just one semester!
Plus, it prepares you to take one of the Pharmacy Technician Board Exams for professional
certification, potentially raising your earning power.

Library offers new website
The Columbus State Library now has a freshly revamped and user-friendly website, complete with a “Find It Fast!” feature that lets you search for high-quality sources,
whether you need articles, books, eBooks, or textbooks.
Hot items like citation guides and the Library’s latest social media posts and events
are also featured on the opening screen, and the “About Us” FAQ page tackles several
must-know library topics. Librarians recommend updating any bookmarks or links in
Blackboard, although the old URLs will still redirect to the new site.
New spot for fine dining
The Columbus State Bookstore has created an additional area of seating for those seeking
a quiet spot to eat lunch or have a snack from the Café. The seating area is located
on the first floor near the elevators-perfect for rainy summer afternoons. The Cafeteria
in Union Hall will be closed for remodeling during the Summer Semester until August
1. Other food options during the summer include food trucks which will be parked near
the Library, the food carts that are located in other areas of campus, and the Bookstore
New OU degree program in communication offered
Attend an information session on Thursday, May 29, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., on the first floor lobby in TL, to learn about the new bachelor's
degree completion program from Ohio University in Applied Communication. You can take
your associate degree (Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, or any Associate of
Applied Science) and a GPA of at least 2,5, and complete your bachelor's degree in
