Nominations sought for Men of the Year

Do you know someone who has been a great male role model? Has a male faculty or staff member positively impacted your life? Do you know a male student who works hard make good choices every day?

For the past three years, the Male Access Network (MAN) Initiative has been honored to host the Men of the Year Awards Reception. Nearly 120 phenomenal male students, employees and community leaders have been recognized for showing everyday leadership.

Please send your Men of the Year nomination(s) to Sarah Baker, Global Diversity and Inclusion, by Friday, April 18. Include the nominee's name, as well as your own name, email address and contact number so that we may follow up with you for additional information.

The program is also asking for nominations for the Napoleon Bell Award.  This award is presented annually to a central Ohio community member who demonstrates aspiration, persistence, integrity and support of Columbus State values – qualities embodied by the award’s namesake. Nominations may also be sent to Sarah Baker.

The Fourth Annual Men of the Year Awards Reception will take place at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, May 1, in the Conference Center Ballroom, fourth floor WD.  The event is free and open to the public.

Gospel Ensemble performs in April

The Columbus State Gospel Vocal Ensemble, under the direction of Emma L. Easton, will end Spring Semester by performing concerts in several venues, including Friday, April 18 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Delaware; Thursday, April 24 at 5:00 p.m. in the Columbus State Bookstore; and Saturday, April 26 at 5:00 p.m. at the King Arts Complex on the new Amos Lynch Plaza. 

Also on Saturday, April 26, at 1:00 p.m., Gospel Ensemble director Emma Easton will present “Ohio’s Gospel Music History,” at the Ohio Village Town Hall at the Ohio Historical Center. 


Concert Band to perform April 29

The Columbus State Concert Band, under the direction of Thomas Lloyd, continues its study of band classics Tuesday, April 29, at 8:00 p.m. in the Conference Center Ballroom (WD fourth floor). The band will perform Gustav Holst's "Second Suite in F," William Grant Still's "To You, America," and John Mackey's "Undertow," as well as many more pieces. The Woodwind Ensemble will also perform. The concert is free and open to the public.
