Chorus Columbus State to perform at the Lincoln Theatre March 25


Join Chorus Columbus State for a musical evening of African-American Spirituals and jazz standards at the Lincoln Theatre on Monday, March 25, from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m. The Chorus will perform "Spirituals with a Touch of Jazz,” a unique program showcasing the roots of jazz music as seen through the lens of African-American spirituals. The concert is free and open to the public at the beautiful historic Lincoln Theatre, located at 769 E. Long St.

The Student Ambassador Leadership Program applications are open through April 1 so there’s still time to apply. The Student Ambassador Leadership Program can provide you with the opportunity to develop leadership skills while participating in various public relations, recruiting, and leadership programs at Columbus State. Best of all, Student Ambassadors also earn money to help pay for tuition and other educational expenses!

Women in military to be featured March 29

AshenhurstBe sure to join the Office of Veterans Services Friday, March 29, when they welcome Maj. Gen. Deborah Ashenhurst to discuss “The Challenges and Triumphs of Women in the United States Military” in honor of Women’s History Month.

The free lecture will take place from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. in the Conference Center Ballroom (WD). Women's History Month celebrates the commitment and contributions by women to our society throughout history. Columbus State is planning a full slate of Women’s History Month activities throughout March.

Appointed by Governor John Kasich in January 2011, Maj. Gen. Ashenhurst serves as the 81st Adjutant General for the Ohio National Guard and holds the distinct honor of being the Guard’s first female Adjutant General. As a member of the governor's cabinet, she commands the Ohio Army National Guard, Ohio Air National Guard, Ohio Military Reserve and the Ohio Naval Militia.


Run in the 2nd annual Cougar Challenge 5K!

logoSave the date for Saturday, April 27, when the Second Annual Cougar Challenge 5K will take place at theBridgeview Golf Course, 2738 Agler Rd. in Columbus.

The race raises money for book scholarships. It only costs $25 in advance or $35 on race day. You can register three ways:

  1. Register online through April 26. (No additional fee added for online registration!)
  2. Register and pick up your packet at Second Sole, 1245 N. Hamilton Road, Gahanna, April 24 through 26 during store hours.
  3. Register on race day beginning at 7:00 a.m.

This year, Columbus State will tell “her” story during March, national Women’s History Month. We will honor women who have made their mark in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics—the STEM fields. The theme is Women Inspiring Innovation through Imagination: Celebrating Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics

Guest performers from central Ohio will perform monologues about the feminine experience. Donations will be collected for Dôma, an organization that helps vulnerable women and children in central Ohio.
