Martin Luther King Day Celebration is Jan. 15!

poster

The 23rd annual Columbus State celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday will be held on Tuesday, January 15 at 11:00 a.m. in the Conference Center Ballroom. The event will be free and open to the public. Themed “Voices to Change the World,” the celebration will feature a keynote address by actor, producer and humanitarian Danny Glover, whose film credits range from the blockbuster Lethal Weapon series, to smaller independent features, many of which Glover also produced.

In recent years, he has starred in an array of motion pictures including the critically-acclaimed Dream Girls, and the futuristic 2012, as well as the comedy Death at a Funeral, and the drama Dear Alice.

Glover has also gained respect for his wide-ranging community activism and philanthropic efforts, emphasizing economic justice and access to health care and education programs in the U.S. and Africa.

A native of San Francisco, Glover trained at the Black Actor’s Workshop of the American Conservatory Theatre. His Broadway debut in Master Harold . . .and the Boys brought him national recognition and led director Robert Benton to cast him in his first leading role in the 1984 Academy Award-winning Best Picture, Places in the Heart.

Most recently, Glover was co-star on the popular television series Touch.

Transfer and Articulation wiki offers degree pathway information

A public wiki about Transfer and Articulation (http://cscctransfer.wikispaces.com/) is accessible to all and now provides quick access to the college's Institutional Agreements, approved OSU pre-majors, finalized pathways and four-year Plans of Study including Franklin University, Otterbein College and more.

The wiki provides quick equivalencies and references for advisors and is a consolidation of information from the web, wiki, and other sources. It has been updated to semesters, when appropriate and available, and includes a Request for Information where you can complete one form, requesting information from multiple institutions.

There are calendars identifying when four-year schools are visiting the college and important deadlines and more.  Soon, you will also be able to search the wiki by Columbus State program, bachelor’s degree, or by career choice.
