Research Interests/Other Interests:
I began teaching at Columbus State as a part time member of the faculty in 1994 and have been part of the full time faculty since 2002-2003. When I was in college I played the bass guitar and had dreams of becoming a famous musician; but my interest in the social sciences began to replace my desire to be a musician when I earned my Bachelor's degree in Criminology at the Ohio State University. I went on to become a graduate student in Sociology where I was offered the chance to teach undergraduate sections of various courses in Sociology. I earned my Ph.D. in Sociology in 2001 from the Ohio State University. Here at Columbus State I teach a range of course that include Introduction to Sociology, Research Methods, Law & Society and Popular Culture. I really enjoy teaching these courses and watching students grow and develop an understanding of the social world around them. I believe learning about the social sciences offers people a tremendous opportunity to gain insight into the world around them.
