EMS / Fire Science
Welcome to the EMS/Fire Science program at Columbus State Community College! We’re dedicated to training the next generation of firefighters, EMTs, and Paramedics.
Training with Ice
Following an ice rescue tragedy, 10-TV checked in with a Columbus State ice rescue class.
Options: Our programs are designed to allow you to get and EMS/Fire certificate quickly, and then get your associate degree. Many people get a certification in EMS or Fire Science, which allows them to start working, then they return to finish their degree. Having a degree in EMS or Fire Science helps when it comes to getting a promotion in the public safety field.
Access: As a college, our classes are eligible for federal student financial aid. Few other EMS/Fire academies can say that. And we’re already committed to maintaining the lowest cost per credit hour in Central Ohio.
Certification: You'll need a state certification to work as a firefighter and state & national certification to work as an EMT or Paramedic. See Programs for more details.
Results: Our graduates are working right now at fire departments and EMS services all around Ohio and across the country.
