Writers Conference to be held April 26
The 2014 Writers Conference will be held Saturday, April 26, starting at 8:30 a.m. in the Conference Center, fourth floor WD. The event will feature novelist, essayist, and editor Roxane Gay as keynote speaker. Twenty writing workshops, a keynote address, a book signing, a book fair, and lunch will round out the day at the conference.
Roxane Gay's writing has appeared in many publications including Best American Short Stories 2012, American Short Fiction, Virginia Quarterly Review, The New York Times Book Review, and The Los Angeles Times. She is the co-editor of PANK and essays editor for The Rumpus. She teaches writing at Eastern Illinois University. Her novel, An Untamed State, will be published by Grove Atlantic and her essay collection, Bad Feminist, will be published by Harper Perennial, both in 2014.
Early registration for $40 ends April 11 online. The cost is $50 at the door, and all high school and college students are free with student ID. Early registrants will be able to attend a special workshop with the keynote speaker Roxane Gay.
