Please choose one activity from the list below, and sign up using the Registration Form. Most sessions are 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., but some volunteer opportunities have a 9 a.m.-noon option.

Habitat for Humanity

An International non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing worldwide.

A 501(c)(3) Ohio nonprofit organization that provides programs and services which address the socio-economic needs and interests of residents and businesses in the Mount Vernon Avenue District and Near Eastside communities in Columbus. Targeted populations include low-income and disadvantaged individuals, youth and senior citizens in particular.

The Resurrecting Lives Foundation

A non-political 501(c)(3) charitable organization that assists in the recovery/reintegration of our OIF/OEF Veterans with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) by defining the brain pathology and by developing the protocols for recovery.

  • 10 volunteers
  • To assist in the launch of an awareness campaign for returning military members and veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan diagnosed and receiving treatment for a Traumatic Brain Injury. Actual campaign to launch on Veterans Day, November 2013. Volunteers are needed to create and construct posters and postcards for community distribution. There are currently about 15,000 veterans in Ohio struggling with TBI.

FACT (Friends of Alum Creek and Tributaries)

A local not-for-profit community-based volunteer organization within the Columbus Metro area. It is part of the Franklin County Greenways initiative.

  • FACT Volunteers will be cutting down and removing invasive honeysuckle bushes growing between the Alum Creek River and Greenway Trail. Columbus Recreation and Parks Department will have a staff person on hand to operate a large chipper/truck. Please wear outdoor work clothes - long sleeves, long pants, hats, work shoes. Absolutely no sandals, flip flops or open toe shoes allowed.

CPO (Scholar House)

A community-based management company that is dedicated to meeting the needs of residents and the community. Through the 501(c)3 non-profit foundation, it links residents to community resources to help stabilize their lives. CPO believes in partnering with residents to strengthen families and communities through supportive service coordination.

Franklin County Dog Shelter

Enforces the dog laws in Franklin County and keeps the public safe from animal-related health or safety dangers. It provides compassionate care for impounded animals at the shelter, as well as adoption and lost dog services to the community. It also educates the public and teaches dog owners to be more responsible citizens.

The library's purpose is to inspire reading, share resources, and connect people through programs and services such as our Ready to Read Corps, Job Help Centers, Homework Help Centers and Summer Reading Club. CML provides help for adults with GED classes, technology training for basic computer knowledge and adult basic learning classes.
