Reading/Writing Center Information:

The Developmental Reading/Writing Center serves students enrolled in any DEV reading or writing course.  Students in DEV 041:  Basic Communication Skills and DEV 040:  Reading Improvement have specific lab assignments to be completed weekly.  Students enrolled in the other courses (DEV 006, DEV 007, DEV 015, or DEV 044) are encouraged to visit the area for extra tutoring.  Most assistance is available on a walk-in basis; no appointment is necessary.

Additionally, one-on-one tutoring is available for students needing help on writing assignments for developmental classes (or other assignments as recommended by instructors).  Students may sign up for a half-hour block of time to work with a tutor on any aspect of the writing process.  Although the tutors cannot proofread or edit assignments for students, they can provide help with prewriting, drafting, revising, or specific editing issues.  The sign-up sheet is posted in Aquinas 214.

Columbus State Community College Testing Center Information:

The Testing Center serves the entire campus, providing distance-learning testing, make-up testing, Developmental Education course testing, etc.  To take a test, students must report to the Testing Center to sign in.  A photo-bearing ID and a testing slip are required.  Specific policies and procedures of the Testing Center are posted in that area; they are also published on-line at www.cscc.edu.  One item of note, however, is that cell phones must be turned off in the testing center.  Students may take as long as they wish to complete tests, but to begin a test, students must be signed in at the Testing Center by one hour prior to closing, and all tests must be completed by the time the Center closes.
