Crown Bridges

A crown (cap) or a bridge is a restoration that replaces one or more lost teeth, the entire crown of a tooth or a portion of the tooth.  Teeth are crowned (caped) for various reasons.  Many times the tooth is decayed or broken. After the dentist prepares the tooth the finished crown is then cemented onto the remaining prepared tooth.   Anterior teeth are usually made of a tooth colored resin or porcelain  while posterior teeth  can be made of either gold, resin or porcelain.   When a tooth or several teeth are  missing, a bridge is made to span the area of the missing tooth. Again the restoration can be either made of gold, resin or porcelain depending on it's location. All restorations  are hand carved from wax and then cast in the appropriate metal. The metal is then covered with either a resin or porcelain.  Laboratory technicians make many different types of crown & bridge restorations. Below are pictures of some of them.
