Don’t miss out on scholarships!

Columbus State is increasing the number of scholarships available for 2006-2007, even as many scholarships went unclaimed last year.

"I would like to thank you for selecting me for the 2005-2006 Police Academy Scholarship. I have worked hard for the past two years and it's a relief to know that someone recognizes my efforts and rewards me with a scholarship."

-Ryan Debolt, Law Enforcement

More than 20 scholarships, some with multiple awards available, had no takers last year. That’s thousands of dollars of scholarships that went completely unclaimed. Scholarships are grants to the student that never have to be repaid.

To find out if you are qualified for a scholarship, check out the Columbus State Development Foundation’s Scholarship Booklet. You can pick up a copy at the Financial Aid office in Rhodes Hall or download a .pdf version at http://cscc.edu/docs/FinAid/PDF/2006-2007DevFoundScholarships.pdf.

The deadline to apply for scholarships is May 1.

Scholarship funding increased for 2006-2007 academic year
The Columbus State Community College Development Foundation will offer 209 scholarships for the upcoming 2006-20007 academic year. This number reflects a 15 percent increase from the 181 scholarships offered by the Foundation last academic year.

"I wish to extend my sincerest thanks for awarding me the R. Reid Vance Memorial/Printing Industry of Central Ohio Scholarship. Having this scholarship really allows me to focus on school and relieves a lot of the stress of working overtime."

Christine Carollo, Graphic Communications

In 2005, the Columbus State Development Foundation received significant commitments from Battelle and Wolfe Associates of $250,000 each over five years to create endowment funds to help build the college’s scholarship program. The Wolfe Associates endowed scholarship provides financial assistance to students who have run out of financial aid eligibility. The Battelle endowment creates new scholarship opportunities for students pursuing careers in math and science.

Scholarship students express thanks

Scholarships are available to students in a variety of fields and grade point averages. Here’s what some of last year’s recipients had to say:
