Safeguarding Your Password

    - If you don't remember the last time you changed your password, it's time to change it

    - Columbus State's Information Technology teams will never ask you for your password whether
      over the phone or via email...if asked, don't provide it

    - You should change your password at least every 90 days

    - Passwords should be at least 8 characters long
     
    - Do not reuse the same password for multiple web sites and/or applications

    - Do not write your passwords down and keep in open areas such as taped to your monitor,
      desktop, or under your keyboard

    - Do not reveal a password over the phone to ANYONE

    - Do not reveal a password in an email message

    - Do not reveal a password to your manager

    - Do not talk about a password in front of others

    - Do not hint at the format of a password (e.g., "my family name")

    - Do not reveal a password on questionnaires or security forms

    - Do not share a password with family members

    - Do not reveal a password to co-workers while on vacation

    - Do not use word or number patterns like aaabbb, qwerty, zyxwvuts, 123321, etc.

    - Do not use any words preceded or followed by a digit (e.g., secret1, 1secret)
