The Ohio Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Columbus State Community College is a public-private partnership supported by the US Small Business Administration, the Ohio Department of Development, Columbus State Community College and other local partners. Through its programs and services, the Center provides entrepreneurial development assistance and high end business consulting to start-up and emerging business owners. The Center’s consulting services are offered at “no cost” to the client and all services are provided on a non-discriminatory basis.The SBDC Regional office is located in Columbus, OH and is housed within Columbus State Community College, servicing the nine county areas of Delaware, Fairfield, Fayette, Franklin, Licking, Logan, Madison, Pickaway, and Union.
The Ohio Small Business Development Center at Columbus State Community College had contact with over 3,000 small businesses in fiscal year 2005. In 2005 the SBDC consulted an all-time high of 1,400 plus small businesses creating over 150 new jobs and facilitating more than $11 million in financing. The SBDC also offered over 75 educational and networking programs to over 1,600 business people. This includes a crowd of 140 attendees at the inaugural Ohio Growth Summit.
The Ohio SBDC at Columbus State Community College is also the presenting organization of the Ohio Growth Summit. The Ohio Growth Summit is a one of a kind event for Columbus and Ohio. Through a mix of national Keynote speakers and local breakout presenters the Ohio Growth Summit provides a variety of learning options to business owners interested in growth that are not usually found in Ohio. The unique blend of national and local perspectives is what makes the Ohio Growth Summit a special event. The Summit is designed to stimulate actions in the attendees that will lead to increased growth of their businesses. The Summit is also designed to foster meaningful networking among the attendees which should lead to increases in the bottom line.
The Ohio SBDC at Columbus State Community College has developed specialized offerings to support business formation and growth in Central Ohio. In order for businesses to received targeted assistance the SBDC has created an “Entrepreneurial Growth Model” and the “Ideas2Deals” Model.
