Academic Recovery
What is the Academic Recovery Process?
The Academic Recovery process is designed to help get you back on track if you have not met the Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress. You will be required to complete the Academic Recovery process if you have earned an academic standing level of Academic Probation, Academic Dismissal, Academic Dismissal 2, or Academic Dismissal 3.
You will begin the Academic Recovery process by answering a series of questions on several topics and by providing a personal statement concerning your previous work. These activities will give you the opportunity to reflect on your past semesters and your overall academic performance.
After completing the self-reflection activities, you will be directed to your academic advisor to develop a recovery plan for future success. Your academic advisor will discuss your self-reflection answers with you, connect you with college and community resources, and help you build a strong academic recovery plan.
The Academic Probation Recovery process has several steps that that must be completed prior to the registration hold being removed from your record.
1. Watch this short video Understanding the Academic Recovery Process and follow the instructions given to proceed through the recovery process.
- Students on academic probation have access to one-to-one coaching sessions to assist with study skills, time management, note-taking, test-taking strategies and other academic skills. 2. Complete the Academic Probation Self-Reflection form. Your responses will be used as a guide for you and your academic advisor to create a personalized recovery plan to aid future academic success.
- You will need your Cougar ID number in order to complete the Self-Reflection form. If you do not know your Cougar ID number, you can discover it here
3. After completing your Academic Probation Self-Reflection form, make an appointment with your academic advisor, on the Academic Advising page. During this appointment your advisor will help you develop an academic recovery plan and remove your scheduling block.
4. Students using financial aid should verify their current SAP status and eligibility by logging into CougarWeb's "Financial Aid Self-Service”. 1. To begin the readmission process, please complete the top portion of the Petition for Readmission
2. Make an appointment with an academic advisor to finish the readmission process. You can email your completed form to your advisor once your appointment has been scheduled.
