Health and Human Services Division Excellence Award

The nomination period is May 20, 2019 – June 20, 2019

The Health and Human Services (HHS) Division is comprised of many individuals from instructional and support departments who work to serve the students, the college, and the community. As such the HHS Division wants to acknowledge one employee within our division from each of the following positions: staff, faculty, and manager as well as one department. Additionally, the HHS Division wants to recognize an individual, department, or agency that partners with our division to serve the students, the college, and the community.

Award Description/Criteria

Health and Human Services Staff Award for Excellence

The Health and Human Services Staff Award for Excellence honors exceptional performance by an individual, non-faculty staff member (fulltime or part-time) in administrative or academic departments. The nominee should be one who goes above and beyond in their contributions to their department and the division, which benefits the students, staff, and faculty. While not an exhaustive list, examples of behaviors worthy of nomination include outstanding performance of his/her position’s duties, concern for students and willingness to help, creative uses of resources and time to produce desired results and/or programs, effective communication skills, and exceptional knowledge of college resources and programs.

Health and Human Services Faculty Award for Excellence

Honorees are selected in accordance with the award criteria, based on demonstrated excellence in fulfilling the mission of the division.

The Health and Human Services Faculty Award for Excellence honors fulltime and adjunct faculty who demonstrate exceptional instructional methods and strong collaborative and leadership skills, as well as emphasize innovation, continual improvement, and prioritization of student, program, division, and college success. Faculty may make this evident in the following ways:

  • Exemplifies innovative classroom design and curriculum development that promotes a collaborative and inclusive learning environment for individuals;
  • Goes above and beyond to promote the success of students, faculty, staff, operations, and initiatives to benefit the department, division, college, and community;
  • Inspires and encourages peers to elevate personal performance and willingly serves as a role model and mentor to facilitate a culture of respect and an atmosphere conducive to achievement, civility, and diversity;
  • Creatively responds and adapts to challenges and emerging changes with positivity and a forward thinking mindset.

Health and Human Services Manager Award for Excellence

Honorees are selected in accordance with the award criteria, based on demonstrated excellence in fulfilling the mission of the division.

The Health and Human Services Manager Award for Excellence honors managers who demonstrate strong leadership and ability to guide and inspire others contributing to the success of students, faculty, and staff. Managers may make this evident in the following ways:

  • Contributes to the success of students, faculty, staff, operations, and initiatives to benefit the department, division, college, and community;
  • Inspires and encourages educational, professional, and personal development in others;
  • Mentors employees to promote growth and a culture of respect to foster an atmosphere conducive to achievement, civility, and diversity;
  • Responds and adapts to emerging changes with clear organizational awareness;
  • Promotes development and success of activities to benefit and encourage collaboration within and among departments.

Health and Human Services Partnership Award for Excellence

  • The Health and Human Services Division’s Partnership Award is presented to an individual, department, or agency occupying a valued relationship with the Health and Human Services Division. Unlike the other Health Human Services Excellence Awards, the Partnership Award is designed to recognize excellence external to the division. This award recognizes that partnership does not occur unless there is a willingness to cooperate, work through challenges together, and demonstrate care for the other partner involved. It is through partnership that community colleges and the communities they serve will continue to thrive and grow.

Health and Human Services Department Award for Excellence

  • The purpose of the Health and Human Services Division’s Department of Excellence Award is to recognize a department for achievement surpassing the expectations of the Division and worthy of College recognition. Rather than being presented to an individual, it is awarded to a collective group of individuals within the HHS Division. The award is presented to a department demonstrating significant accomplishment and fulfillment of department, division, and College priorities.
