Motorcycle Ohio

In 2010, Motorcycle Ohio enrolled over 2,500 students on-line within the first 12 hours of opening enrollment. By October, Motorcycle Ohio had trained over 12,000 riders, suprassing the previous year’s total. Since the inception of the program in 1988, over 150,000 motorcycle riders statewide have been trained.

If you want to learn how to ride or want to get your motorcycle endorsement, register at http://www.motorcycle.ohio.gov/ for this 2 ½ day, $25 course. Riders wanting to advance their skills may also enroll for our ½ day experienced rider courses.

Registration dates:

  • Monday, February 6, 2012 at 12:01 a.m. for classes running March-June 2012.
  • Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 12:01 a.m. for classes running July-October 2012.

 

Columbus State Community College Center for Workforce Development is a training partner for the Ohio Deparment of Public Safety Motorocycle Safety Program.

Course(s) Overview:

Basic Rider Course (BRC)

This 16-hour class is the recommended class for beginning riders. If you already ride but have never taken a safety course, the BRC also contains many tips and practice for riders of intermediate skills regardless of how many years/miles you’ve accrued. Ohio law requires this class for 15 ½ to 17-year-old riders.

• You must attend all three days.

• This course is for beginners.

• Those who pass the course will have the Ohio Skills Test waived and will receive their motorcycle endorsement by presenting completion card to the Deputy Registrar within 60 days of completion.

• Students must have a validated Ohio Motorcycle Temporary Learning Permit BEFORE attending this course.

• Motorcycles and helmets will be furnished.

• Cost per student is a $25 NON-REFUNDABLE fee.

• No Telephone or Mail-In Registrations will be accepted.

Basic Rider Course for the Returning Rider

(BRC-RR)

The 9-hour course is the recommended class for returning riders or riders that have prior experience bu no motorcycle endorsement on their drive license.

• This course is designed for the rider that has had more than one permit with more than 6 months experience.

• You attend only one day.

• Those who pass the course will have the Ohio Skills Test waived and will received their motorcycle endorsement by presenting completion card to the Deputy Registrar within 60 days of competion.

• Motorcycles and helmets will be furnished.

• Students MUST have a validated Ohio Motorcycle Termporary Learning Permit BEFORE attending.

• Cost per student is a $25 NON-REFUNDABLE fee.

• No Telephone or Mail-In Registrations will be accepted.

Basic Rider Course 2 (BRC-2)

This 6-hour course is primarlily designed for advanced riders.

• Student must have six months riding experience and a current Motorcycle Endorsement on their Ohio Drivers Licens.

• Participants must provide their own motorcycle, safety equipment and pass a motorcycle safety check.

• You attend only one day.

• Costs per student is a $25 NON-REFUNDABLE fee.

• No Telephone or Mail-In Registrations will be accepted.

Advanced Rider Course (ARC)

This 9-hour course is designed for experience riders who desire to learn and practice more in depth riding techniques.

• Student must have six months riding experience and a current Motorcycle Endorsement on their Ohio Drivers Licens.

• Participants must provide their own motorcycle, safety equipment and pass a motorcycle safety check.

• You attend only one day.

• Costs per student is a $25 NON-REFUNDABLE fee.

• No Telephone or Mail-In Registrations will be accepted.
