Jane Evans, SPHR

Jane

Jane Evans is a consultant and co-owner of JK Evans & Associates LLC, a successful human resource management consulting firm with hundreds of clients in the public, private, and non-profit sectors throughout Ohio. She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Mt. Vernon Nazarene College and is an experienced trainer and facilitator.

Jane has demonstrated expertise in the human resource management field by achieving the SPHR certification. This certification is achieved by meeting the SHRM experience requirements and by passing of a comprehensive exam that substantiates mastery and expertise of a codified body of human resource knowledge.

Jane is active in the local SHRM chapter and is recognized as a local business leader, serving on the Board of Directors of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce as Treasurer. She also volunteers for the United Way of Muskingum, Perry, and Morgan Counties.


Jim Evans, SPHR

Jim

James K. Evans is the President and founder of JK Evans & Associates LLC, a human resource consulting firm that provides a full line of HR services to its clients. During his 29-year HR consulting career, Jim has consulted with, and developed human resource management programs for hundreds of non-profit, private, and public sector organizations across Ohio and other states. Jim is a graduate of Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources [SPHR] through the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). He is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management [SHRM] also. Jim is often called upon to speak before industry associations and chambers of commerce, and has served on panels and workshops to explore personnel and labor relations trends and issues. He also writes a biweekly newspaper column [HR Blueprints] that’s published through selected newspapers of the Gannett Co, Inc.

Doug Reys, SPHR

Doug

A practitioner, teacher, and consultant, Doug Reys has over 30 years management experience in operations and human resources.  He has taught at DeVry and Wilberforce Universities and has been a guest speaker at several others. His B.S. is from Ohio State, his M.B.A. is from Xavier University, but a dissertation still stands between him and a Ph.D. degree.  His certifications include Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), plus both the Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and Certified Benefits Professional CBP) credentials from World at Work.  A winner of local and statewide awards for creativity in human resources practice, he is a past recipient of  the Employee Benefits Professional of the Year award from Employee Benefits News Magazine. A frequent speaker at national conferences, Doug is a compensation peer reviewer for SHRM and serves on the editorial advisory board for Employee Benefit News.  He is currently manager of compensation, benefits, and training at Franklin International. 

Phyllis "Dr. Phyl" Gorman, PhD, SPHR

Phyllis Gorman is a proven human resources leader, educator and consultant. She is a long-time public sector human resources professional with experience in a wide range of HR leadership roles within state government. Dr. Phyl's State of Ohio roles have included managing both people and projects for the Ohio Department of Administrative Services' (DAS) Classification & Compensation Unit, Office of Training and Development, and the Office of Employee Services as well as serving as a supervisor for DAS's Equal Opportunity Division. She served on the implementation and training design teams for both the initial rollout of the OAKS Human Capital Management System and for the new ePerformance module scheduled for an early 2013 "go-live."

A sociologist by training, Dr. Phyl earned her PhD at The Ohio State University and has taught courses "part-time" for the past 20+ years at various OSU campuses and at the Ohio University Pickerington Center. Spring semester 2013, marks her start as Adjunct Faculty teaching sociology here at Columbus State Community College.

She is once again serving on the State of Ohio Training Association (SOTA) board of director's as the statewide professional development group's treasurer. Dr. Phyl combines wit, HR subject matter expertise and her abilities as a passionate educator and a skilled presenter, facilitator and designer of professional development curriculum to support her students' learning.

Judith Juodvalkis, CCP, GRP, SPHR

Judith

Judith Juodvalkis has more than 15 years of human resources experience, with over 10 years focused on Compensation. Judith is currently Compensation Manager for Exel, a third-party contract logistics company, with responsibility for broad-based compensation programs, exempt compensation, FLSA compliance, external benchmarking, career path development, and merit automation. She has also held compensation positions in a variety of industries, including retail, manufacturing, financial services, insurance, food service, and software. Judith has held positions on the Board of the Columbus Compensation Association (www.columbuscomp.org), including Communications Chairperson and Technology Chairperson.

Prior to entering compensation, Judith spent time in recruiting, working for both retained and contingent search firms. Judith has a B.A. in Psychology from Allegheny College and an M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from The University of Akron. Her master's thesis on communication styles in screening interviews was published in the International Journal of Organizational Analysis. Judith spent time during the college years tutoring and teaching Statistics and Quantitative Methods, which have been useful for her compensation background.

Judith obtained her Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) in 2011, her Global Remuneration Professional (GRP) in 2009, and her Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) in 2007.
